Description
We are in search of a Property Accountant to join our team located in Dallas, Texas. The role involves handling various aspects of financial statement packages, maintaining cash balances, and ensuring that all payments are made in a timely manner. This role is within the property industry and requires an individual with strong skills in Multi-Family Property Accounting, Accruals, Yardi, Month End Close, and Bank Reconciliations.
Responsibilities include:
• Preparing all aspects of financial statement packages, which includes creating and posting journal entries, conducting a thorough review of the general ledger, and completing balance sheet support schedules
• Monitoring and maintaining cash balances on a regular basis
• Resolving any issues that arise and documenting responses to all review comments generated
• Reviewing variances in financial statements and providing detailed explanations for significant items
• Ensuring all payments, including debt, real estate tax, sales tax and owner distribution, are made promptly and internal schedules are maintained
• Completing Inter-Project Account reconciliations bi-weekly and promptly following up on open issues
• Verifying that bank reconciliation is complete and ensuring all reconciling items are resolved in a timely manner
• Adhering to internal accounting policies and procedures in all tasks
• Assisting in the setup and transitions of properties, which may involve loading beginning balance information, sale pro-ration calculations, and closing entries
• Handling client audit requests as needed
• Setting own project deadlines with a clear understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices.
Requirements
• Must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Multi-Family Property Accountant role or similar
• Proficiency in Property Accounting is essential
• Experience with Accruals is required
• Familiarity with Yardi software is a must
• Must have experience in Month End Close procedures
• Proficiency in performing Bank Reconciliations is necessary
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong capabilities in MS Excel
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
