100% REMOTE Sr. Tax Analyst role with Services company in N. Dallas

The ideal candidate has a very strong background in sales and use tax and has experience with working with Sales Tax Engines, a Tax Compliance Calendar as well as research and working with governmental auditors.

Other responsibilities of this role include the following:

• Works with the outsourced service provider to complete all sales and use tax returns and remit tax payments. Provides the source data for the returns, reconciles sales and use tax accounts, prepares journal entries, and reviews returns for accuracy and completeness on a monthly basis.

• Prepares monthly use tax accruals in accordance with established policies and procedures, identifies and assists with establishing new tax business processes, recommends improvements to existing procedures, reviews invoices for compliance with use tax laws and internal policies, prepares journal entries for use tax accruals, and receives and evaluates requests for and prepares resale and exemption certificates for vendor invoices.

• Maintains and updates the tax engine including mapping product codes, reviews and enters sales tax resale and exemption certificates, and monitors and maintains the tax compliance calendar to confirm that returns are filed on a timely basis.

• Works with government auditors including researching and analyzing the information requests, gathers and prepares the data and responses to information document requests, responds to tax inquiries, and interfaces with government auditors.

• Conducts technical research related to sales and use tax issues including researching state and local tax rates, rules, nexus, exemptions and related tax matters.

• Files business licenses and tax registrations, and works closely with other internal departments, external customers and vendors to assist with and resolve sales and use tax matters.

• Understands the relationship between customer exemption type, product taxability and state and local tax laws to apply the appropriate tax rules.

• Responds to sales and use tax notices including reviewing tax assessments, prepares written responses and corresponds with tax agencies.

• Works with external ERP implementation specialists to implement and test the sales and use tax engine in the company’s new ERP environment.

• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws, legislation and current developments.

• Works with the outsourced property tax service provider to coordinate requests for data to ensure the accurate and timely completion of tax renditions and prepares payment requests for property tax bills and assessments.

• Assists with special projects as assigned by VP of Tax.

Requirements

Bachelors in Accounting with CPA preferred

2+ years of Sales and Use Tax
