Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of international, federal and state tax returns (EU/ S Corp/individual/State alcohol excise/property) and the accurate, timely filing of all tax forms.

  • Oversee outside tax preparers as they prepare federal and state tax returns and other tax documents.

  • Plan for and develop overall return calendar and coordinate timing and delivery with key parties.

  • Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures, including progressive advancements in digital technology, security and reporting.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes applicable to a high-net-worth family and privately-owned company, including estate and gift taxes.

  • Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.

  • Manage and facilitate federal and state income and excise tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.

  • Provide support with various internal audits and special tax related projects.

  • Prepare/review quarterly/yearly tax projections and distribution calculations.

  • Analyze complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations.

  • Assist in tax technical research regarding specific transactions and various ad hoc needs. This includes developing and writing technical memorandums or other correspondence.

  • Use data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Tax and/or Accounting.

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience. Large public accounting firm or large corporate tax department is preferred.

  • CPA required.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and organizational skills are required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

  • Must possess a desire for continuous improvement.

  • Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment.

  • Extensive tax technical and procedural knowledge for individuals, corporations, and flowthrough entities both domestically and within the EU.

  • Experience with state and federal alcohol excise taxes preferred.

  • Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.

  • Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks for self and other team members.

  • Strong skills and experience with: Microsoft Office Suite, Net Suite, QuickBooks, and other Tax applications.
