Build your career in accounting with Robert Half, now offering a permanent position for an experienced Staff Accountant that has a knack for problem-solving and enjoys new challenges. As a Staff Accountant, you will be in charge of preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This intricate position is involved in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This Dalton, Georgia area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.

Responsibilities

  • Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management

  • Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments

  • Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable

  • Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

  • Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

  • Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

  • Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision

  • Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

    Requirements - Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Proficient in ERP systems

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Deep understanding of Expense Accruals

  • General familiarity with GAAP Accounting

  • Well-founded grasp of Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Sales and use tax experience highly desired

  • Foundational knowledge in Inventory Valuation

  • Proven knowledge of fixed assets

  • Journal entries experience required

  • Practical knowledge of US GAAP

  • General ledger experience desired

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Detailed and have the ability work independently

  • Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
