Robert Half International Sr Accounts Payable Specialist in DALY CITY, California


Robert Half has an excellent opportunity for a long-term contract / temporary position for an Accounts Payable (A/P) Clerk for a company in the Government industry. The Accounts Payable Clerk will update and reconcile sub-ledger to G/L, process checks, process expense reports, resolve A/P issues, and match, batch, and code invoices. As the role progresses , more responsibilities will be assigned to the Accounts Payable Clerk. Located in Daly City, California, the Accounts Payable Clerk will be a long-term contract / temporary opening.

Our Northern Peninsula client is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk for 4 - 6 months while they search for the full-time employee.

Responsibilities include:

-Supporting the Accounts Payable Manager in the Finance department with processing the accounts payable invoices for accuracy

-The process is documented in their procedures and has an Accounts Payable check list;

-This consultant will be managing and prioritizing the daily workload of opening the mail, check for departmental code; if not there, then send

to appropriate Department Head for correct department code, ensure that the backup is there and audit it; then check for authorized

signature before entering into their accounting system

-Volume is approximately 40 per day or 200 per week depending on the week; this is their year-end so extremely busy;

  • Run a report to ensure that no errors show before preparing the check run

  • Communicate with the Accounts Payable Manager on a daily basis; overcommunicating is better than not;

-This consultant must be passionate about accounts payable and able to handle the manual process as they continue to look for automated

ways for efficiency;

  • Must follow the procedures as short-cuts causes the errors;

  • Good ten key by touch, alpha numeric and have proven experience in accounts payable

  • Process - video interview/panel interview with the Accounts Payable Manager and a few Finance team.

    Requirements - AA or BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business or similar preferred

  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Demonstrated communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills, especially with both technical and financial backgrounds

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Command of Credit Card Statements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Check Runs

  • Deep understanding of Reconcile Vendor Statements

  • 2+ years of experience in an A/P role preferred
