Position Summary: The Cost Accountant is responsible for the ongoing analysis of inventory, costs associated with production, margin analysis and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The Cost Accountant must be able to construct and monitor cost-effective data accumulation systems and to develop a meaningful and comprehensive reporting package to provide current and accurate information to management in order to make solid business decisions related to production, inventory management and pricing of our products. Responsibilities:
Accountable for the ongoing analysis of inventory, production costs, margin and tracing costs back to underlying activities and drivers.
Maintains standard costs and reviews standard and actual costs for inaccuracies including variance analysis and treatment of variances in accordance with GAAP.
Aid in establishing Key Performance Indicator Reports and maintain the foundational data of those KPIs.
Prepare & present cash flow forecasts related to plant projects.
Maintain monthly inventory account reconciliations.
Transact inventory adjustments as needed.
Work in cooperation with Operations to ensure accurate reporting of material movements.
Visits plants and performs production walk through to understand manufacturing processes, variances, reporting errors and interpretation of cost build ups.
Calculate labor and overhead calculation annually.
Develop and maintain absorption rates by plant and work center including labor costs and overhead.
Develops meaningful and comprehensive reporting packages to provide current and accurate information to management to support business decisions related to production, inventory management and pricing of our products.
Prepare & analyze the standard gross margin reporting.
Prepare and provide analysis of labor efficiency report.
Participate in process improvement initiatives.
Assist with administering the cycle count program and ensuring proper inventory controls are in place.
Assist in the preparation of new product costing.
Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process ensuring timely, accurate results & assist with annual accounting audit.
Performs month end tasks associated with inventory, labor, manufacturing overhead, material costs, margin analysis and plant financial analysis including adjustment, summary schedules, preparation of journal entries and reconciliation.
Participate in preparation of financial forecasts and annual budget, leading plant budget preparation and completion.
Lead completion of the annual cost roll process.
Support manufacturing through analysis, projects, and reporting.
Review engineering changes to bills of material and determine financial effect of changes
Analysis of fixed vs variable costs company-wide.
Assists in general accounting tasks as assigned.
Support ad hoc projects and reporting.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
