Robert Half Staff Accountant in Dearborn, Michigan

Description There's currently a long-term contract / contract position available for an experienced Staff Accountant with Robert Half. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will play an active role in compliance, collaborate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Key responsibilities

  • Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

  • Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

  • Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation Requirements - Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Proficient in ERP systems

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Great attention to detail

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • Analyze Financial Statements experience

  • General ledger experience desired

  • Command of Bank Account Reconciliation

  • Practical knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Journal entries experience

  • General familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of VLOOKUP

  • Adeptness in Pivot Table

  • Month-end Close Activities experience

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
