Robert Half Cost Accountant in Decatur, Alabama

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Cost Accountant in Decatur, Alabama. The primary function of this role is to analyze actual costs versus standard costs, prepare reports of variances, and establish and maintain standard cost accounts. The individual will also assist in month-end closing and analyze inventory evaluations. This role is based in an office setting but may require occasional travel.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze actual costs versus standard costs and prepare reports of variances.

• Determine cost weights from product specifications.

• Prepare special analyses and estimates of product costs.

• Establish and maintain standard cost accounts.

• Classify various costs and charges to compute unit costs.

• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

• Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins.

• Coordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance, and development such as production, purchasing, import/export, accounts payable, accounts receivable, receiving, shipping, and others.

• Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories.

• Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls.

• Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, and analyze inventory evaluation.

• Utilize skills in Accounting Software Systems, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP Solutions, Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Budget Processes, Cost Accounting, Cost Analysis, and SAP. Requirements

• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and ERP Solutions

• Knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) procedures

• Background working in manufacturing is required

• Expertise in Cost Accounting and Cost Analysis

• Proficiency in SAP software is a plus

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion

• Proven ability to meet deadlines

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting

• Ability to speak Korean is strongly preferred.

• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
