ASSISTANT CONTROLLER - Technology and SaaS Company in Decatur
We are in search of an Assistant Controller with experience in the technology and SaaS industry for a permanent, direct-hire role based in Decatur, Georgia. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting our financial operations, managing daily accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. This role requires a strong accounting background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Coordinate and assist with external audits and tax preparations.
Manage and mentor junior accounting staff.
Assist the Controller with special projects and strategic financial planning.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business objectives.
Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
Maintain and enhance revenue recognition processes and controls.
Perform detailed reviews of contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition.
Prepare revenue-related disclosures for financial statements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the technology or SaaS industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Extensive experience with revenue recognition principles, particularly ASC 606.
Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems; experience with [specific software, e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP] is a plus.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with data analysis tools.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
