Description

My client is a steadily growing multi-state Fire Protection company headquartered in Denver looking for their next Controller! This Controller is a newly created position to take complete ownership over all finance and accounting functions, and is paying $150K + 10% bonus!

This Controller opportunity is perfect for someone eager for the opportunity to shape the financial aspects of an organization!

The Controller will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing the accounting function including billing, A/R, A/P, bank reporting, inventory, depreciation/amortization, work-in-process and revenue recognition

  • Owning month-end and year-end close processes including preparation of timely month end and annual financial statements, in adherence to GAAP, for internal and external stakeholders

  • Developing, documenting, implementing, and monitoring accounting control processes and procedures to ensure accuracy of financial transactions and financial reporting

  • Leading the annual audit process while coordinating with external auditors

  • Ensuring company compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings while coordinating with the Company’s tax preparation experts, as needed

  • Managing the development of the annual operating budget and financial forecast

  • Managing vendor relationships including payroll, benefits, insurance, and 401(k) providers

  • Advising leadership on all aspects of financial matters including regulatory and compliance issues through researching and concluding on technical accounting issues

  • Decision support, as a financial business partner to the CEO, assist in making informed business decisions with the support of financial analytics

  • Overseeing and/or supporting various company administrative needs in the areas of IT, compliance, facilities, human resources and overall finance, as needed

Requirements for the Controller include:

  • 8+ years of blended accounting and finance experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (highly preferred)

  • Experience being a key player in the budgeting/forecasting process for a small-mid size company

  • Experience implementing new systems and applications

  • Recent/current industry experience – any industry that deals with WIP, job costing, POC (Construction, Engineering, Manufacturing, etc.)

  • Leadership/Supervisory experience

  • Expert level Excel skills (pivot tables, v lookups, macros, building financial models, sum if’s, etc.)

  • Experience with QuickBooks

  • Strong interest in technology with an eye towards opportunities for process improvement

  • Knowledge and experience designing, building, and implementing policies, procedures and sound systems of internal control

  • Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, modeling, and reporting. Experience in the creation of key performance metrics (KPIs) as well as setting, measuring and enforcing financial and operational standards.
