Robert Half Forensic Project Accountant in Denver, Colorado

Description

Our CPA firm is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Forensic Project Accountant with proficiency in SAGE accounting software. The primary responsibilities include meticulous financial inspection and review, providing clarity and resolutions to financial discrepancies, and managing project-based accounting tasks. Moreover, the candidate should possess strong forensic skills to be able to trace and rectify any form of fraudulent activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing SAGE accounting software for requirements like data handling, financial analysis, report preparations, and updating accounting records.

  • Conducting thorough and precise financial audits to detect any discrepancies, inaccuracies or irregularities in the financial statements or accounting systems.

  • Analyzing, reconciling, and validating all financial data for every project to maintain accurate and detailed financial records.

  • Detecting and investigating potential fraudulent activities; preparing reports of findings to be used as evidence in legal proceedings.

  • Assisting in the preparation of project budgets, variance analysis, and cash flow projections using SAGE accounting software.

  • Collaborating with team members, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations.

  • Adhering to accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies while performing financial tasks.

  • Provide efficient, customer-focused accounting services to both internal and external clients.

  • Mentoring junior accountants and support staff.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.

  • Minimum five years of forensic accounting or audit experience.

  • Proficiency in SAGE accounting software is a must.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation regulations.

  • Exceptional investigative, research, and problem-solving abilities; ability to discover discrepancies and frauds in financial data.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present findings and articulate complex financial information effectively.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a busy environment, respecting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy.

  • Strong analytical and organization skills, attention to detail, and ethical conduct.

Requirements • Must hold a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a related role

• Demonstrated proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, and Journal Entries is required

• Familiarity with Month End Close processes

• Proficiency in using Sage 100 and Sage Software

• Experience in Forensic Accounting and Forensic Analysis is preferred

• Project Accounting skills will be highly valued

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Good knowledge of accounting standards and regulations

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

• CPA certification is a plus.
