Description
Controller
A client of ours is looking for a Controller for a contract role. The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, with a primary focus on month-end close activities, inventory management, and SAP-based financial reporting. This role plays a key part in supporting our financial health by ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with company policies, and efficient financial processes. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in a manufacturing setting and demonstrate strong analytical and leadership skills.
Responsibilities of Controller
Manage and execute month-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Lead and coordinate inventory counts, monitor inventory valuation, and implement best practices for inventory control to minimize variances and improve efficiency.
Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements, variance analysis, and other financial reports for management and stakeholders.
Oversee and enhance SAP processes, ensuring accurate data entry, reporting, and system functionality. Provide support and training to staff on SAP best practices.
Collaborate with production and operations teams to develop cost standards, analyze production costs, and provide financial insights to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications of Controller
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
5+ years of relevant experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
Strong expertise in month-end close processes, inventory management, and SAP (including FI/CO modules).
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable insights.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
