This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. Major responsibilities

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team

  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective Requirements - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Solid understanding of month end closings

  • General familiarity with analysis

  • Well-founded grasp of Ad Hoc Analysis

  • Experience with Annual Budget

  • Practical knowledge of Ad Hoc Analysis

  • Analyze Financial Statements experience required

  • Proficiency in Financial Statement

  • Monthly Financial Statements experience preferred

  • Proven knowledge of Ad Hoc Financial Analysis

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
