Description
Our client, a Non-Profit Organization is seeking to hire a Controller Consultant. This role will report directly to the CFO and will interact with executive leadership. The Controller Consultant will manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems, and support the CFO in establishing financial and operating benchmarks. The Controller will manage the process to ensure that models are correct and are fully accrued each month, verify and hold the operations team accountable to ensure end to end incentive processing, payments, accounting and related financial controls are operating effectively.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the Controller Consultant will include:
Perpetual reviewing of actual spend against budget, as well as leading necessary actions needed for any expected shortfalls
Organize evidence and qualitative discussion of monthly financial results across global programs in order to support SOX controls
Recognize key financial results and movements across programs, then summarize and discuss them with key business partners
Ensure timely cash flow forecasts by collaboration with the Treasury
Analyze and oversee controls to ensure they are effectively designed and operating in partnership with compliance
Manage all processes and tools for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting accountable programs
Secure an understanding of key financial results and movements across programs to summarize and discuss with key business partners
Engage with various business partners for a variety of program controllership and FP& A activities such as upholding accurate accrual models and appropriate accounting, as well as true-up activities. Also answer questions from business, area and subsidiary controllers
Requirements
The ideal skill set for the Controller Consultant includes:
Highly skilled in office and accounting computer systems
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field
CPA and/or CMA preferred
Highly skilled at communication and negotiation with prior experience creating trusted advisor/consultant relationships and influencing Executives and Business Decision Makers
Good understanding of ERP system is highly valued
Proven analytical skills with ability to implement solutions and vendor management experience with good organizational skills
7+ years professional accounting and controllership or public accounting and internal controls experience and/or Internal Audit or Controls and Compliance
Ability to manage, lead change and build process improvements
Quickbooks Premier experience
Command of month end closings
Demonstrated knowledge of grant accounting
Grant accounting experience
Solid understanding of bi-Monthly Payroll
Journal entries experience highly preferred
Deep understanding of Quickbooks Online
Adeptness in grant accounting
General familiarity with Grant Management
Practical knowledge of budget forecasting
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership across finance team by engaging with different groups around the world via virtual communication
