Description

We are in search of a Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join a growing law firm with a location in Detroit and Plymouth area. This role primarily involves assisting attorneys in the preparation and filing of legal documents for commercial litigation cases. The successful candidate will work in a largely paperless office environment, managing and organizing case files electronically and communicating effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents for commercial litigation cases in federal and state courts

• Draft discovery, motions, and briefs for legal proceedings

• Manage and organize case files electronically, ensuring all documents and files are uploaded and stored appropriately

• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel

• Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and trials

• Prepare discovery requests and responses in compliance with court rules

• Review and summarize legal documents and deposition transcripts

• Maintain confidentiality of client information and case details

• Participate as a member of trial and arbitration teams, including preparation for and attending trials and arbitrations nationally and internationally

• Utilize skills in Civil Litigation and Electronic File management to efficiently perform duties and tasks

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, preferably within civil litigation.

• Advanced knowledge of legal terminology and principles.

• Proficiency in using legal research systems.

• Familiarity with the preparation of legal documents such as briefs, contracts, and pleadings.

• Experience in managing electronic files and documentation.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.

• A team player with a strong ability to work independently when required.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Must have legal right to work in the United States.
