Robert Half is currently working with a dynamic client seeking a project accountant. On behalf of our client, a major player in the engineering industry with a nationwide footprint and annual revenues exceeding $1B, we are seeking a detail-oriented and business-savvy Project Accountant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a financially adept professional to play a significant role in driving the company's growth and efficiency.

The role of the Project Accountant involves overseeing various aspects of the cost management process for a significant construction project, as well as multiple smaller projects of lesser complexity. Responsibilities include organizing, documenting, evaluating, and overseeing expenses and invoices related to the construction projects. Additionally, the position ensures that vendors adhere to the necessary requirements, thus mitigating project risks. The Project Accountant collaborates closely with the Project Manager to ensure the project's financial records and risk assessment are conducted accurately and promptly during the project's entire duration.

  • Oversee the financial health of multiple projects, including the development and monitoring of project budgets.

  • Prepare and deliver timely and accurate project financial statements.

  • Coordinate with project managers and other key stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision support.

  • Review contracts and agreements to ensure that all financial terms and conditions are effectively managed.

  • Conduct regular financial analysis, identify variances, and propose appropriate actions.

  • Assist in the development of financial forecasts and cost projections.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.

  • Facilitate internal and external audits related to assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification would be highly advantageous.

  • Minimum of two years' experience in project accounting or a similar role, preferably within the engineering, construction, or related industries.

  • Proficient in accounting software and project management systems. Experience with ERP systems is a plus.

  • Excellent numerical skills and a keen eye for detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and liaise with external partners.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and applicable financial laws and regulations.
