Robert Half VP/Director of Finance in EDGEWATER, Maryland
Description We have a mission-driven organization near Annapolis, MD that is looking for a new leader for their finance team. The Director of Finance will oversee the management of the organizations finances and have a hand in some HR functions. Two key projects that will have you hit the ground running include working with the Executive Director to complete the annual budget and jumping in to help with an ongoing fundraising campaign that is key to the future growth of the business. You could be a great fit if you bring the following to the table: excellent accounting skills, strategic thinker, can juggle competing priorities, and are adept at solving problems and working across departments to do so. What you get to do on a daily basis:
Manage the preparation of all financial reports
Maintain and reviews budgeting and forecasting models for the annual budget
Comply with all budgetary reporting requirements, including local, state, and federal
Manage finance and accounting functions, including Accounts Payable/Receivable, grants and investment, to ensure internal controls, timely and accurate financial reports, and clear analysis of financial positions
Oversee preparation and schedules for the annual external audit
Develop financial analysis prior to contract negotiations and product investment decisions
Own establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
Oversee the preparation of financial forecasts and outlooks
Maintain personnel files and onboard HR components for new hires
Stay up to date on new HR and education personnel legislation and compliance requirements
Supervise risk and insurance management
Develop collaborative working relationships with department leaders and other faculty members and constituents Requirements - Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, MBA is a plus
Strong analytical na dstrategic thinking and a detail-oriented mindset
Strong knowledge of cost control, budgeting, accounting, and finance principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
5+ years of leadership experience in strategic and day-to-day financial and operational management
Team player mentality who promotes a strong sense of community and is flexible when unexpected changes arise
Prior experience managing direct reports
Understanding of technology, especially Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office suite, QuickBooks, and Google platform
Knowledge of human resource practices and policies
