Description

Robert Half is immediately seeking a seasoned and dynamic VP of Compliance to join an esteemed credit union in MD. This is a remote position and are accepting applications of candidates based in MD, DC, VA, PA, DE, NY, TX, MA, OR, or FL.

Summary:

The VP of Compliance will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and administration of the compliance management program, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Oversight: Develop and execute strategies to ensure comprehensive compliance across all aspects of the credit union's operations, in alignment with regulatory guidelines and best practices.

  • Advisory Role: Provide expert counsel and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors on emerging compliance, regulatory, and risk-related matters affecting the credit union.

  • Risk Mitigation: Assess potential risks and vulnerabilities, and recommend controls and procedures to mitigate risks effectively, fostering a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

  • Supervisory Leadership: Directly supervise the Bank Secrecy Act Officer and Compliance Officer, overseeing their activities and ensuring the effective execution of compliance functions.

  • Operational Oversight: Organize and oversee controls related to banking and operational activities, ensuring that all compliance efforts are maintained on a daily basis.

  • Training and Development: Research, document, and develop comprehensive training programs to address compliance needs across departments, ensuring staff are fully knowledgeable and skilled in compliance protocols.

  • Departmental Management: Oversee the overall functioning of the compliance department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations through effective leadership, training, and supervision.

    Requirements

  • EXPERIENCE: 10-12+ years of regulatory compliance, risk management, and BSA/AML operations management experience required. Must come from a large financial institution/credit union with a minimum of $2B-$5B in revenue.

  • LEADERSHIP: Strong leadership skills with 8-10+ years experience managing multi-tier level teams of 7-10+ employees; Comfortability managing a remote team. VP level experience is ideal, but willing to consider AVP or Senior Manager/Director level candidates who strive to lead an entire department and are ready for that next step.

  • TECHNICAL: Must have strong technical skills with experience operating in a more manual based system. Must have E-filing system experience; Keystone software and Verafin (AML Management) is a plus.

  • SOFT SKILLS: Must be a strong communicator; clear, concise, and able to put complex concepts into simpler terms. Must have strong time management and the ability to act with a sense of urgency during times where action needs to be taken immediately.

  • EDUCATION/CERTS: Bachelor’s degree required; Additional Certifications are a plus (Certified Bank Compliance Officer (CBCO), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), or Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional (CRCP)).

  • COMPLIANCE: Must be able to pass a background check AND credit check (no bankruptcies/liens/collections).
