This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Candidate must lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the El Cerrito, California region.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time Requirements

  • Requires a four-year college degree; preferably in accounting, business or finance.

  • At least 4-5 years’ of finance and accounting experience.

  • Big 4 Public Accounting and CPA is a plus; will take straight out of Public.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills, excited to learn and help business grow.
