Robert Half Staff Accountant in El Segundo, California
Description
We are looking for a diligent Staff Accountant to join our clients team in El Segundo, California. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for keeping accurate records that impact the company's financial position. This role involves understanding the intricacies of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial transactions.
Responsibilities:
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions daily
• Carry out banking transactions on a daily basis
• Process expense reports and reimbursements monthly
• Perform mid-level general ledger account reconciliations
• Support timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts
• Assist in providing schedules and commentary with respect to operating maintenance accounts results and variances, and with the production of working capital, cash-flow reports
• Maintain vendor listing, accounts payable schedule process transactions
• Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets
• Prepare reports and filings such as monthly, quarterly, and yearly use/sales tax
• Assist with other month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, and other duties in a timely manner
• Support the Finance Department with projects as needed
• Proficiency in using software tools such as NetSuite and QuickBooks for accounting tasks.
Requirements • Must possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or relevant role in the accounting sector.
• Proficiency in the use of accounting software, specifically NetSuite.
• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.
• Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
• Ability to handle monthly close processes.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and journal entries.
• Proficiency in managing the general ledger.
• Excellent data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.
• Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software (JDE or other full-scale ER software).
• Proficiency in English and in MS Office.
• Customer service orientation and negotiation skills.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• CPA or CMA certification will be considered a plus.
