Robert Half is partnering with a leading freight company located near Union County, NJ, offering superior transportation and logistics services in the search for an Accounting Specialist.

Job Description:

The candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of general accounting support tasks in the accounting department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and processing financial transactions across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Organize, record, and process a significant number of financial transactions

• Ensure the accuracy of receivable records and serve as a resource to the accounts receivable team

• Verify funds received, and prepare check deposits

• Guarantee the accuracy of payable records and serve as a resource to the accounts payable team

• Record and certify funds disbursed

• Collect, sort, batch, process, code, and file vendor invoices

• Prepare daily, weekly, month-end, and ad-hoc reports as needed

• Compile weekly reports for senior accounting personnel

• Assist with clerical and administrative tasks as well as the month-end closing process, which includes bank reconciliations

Requirements

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting roles

• Familiarity with Accounting Functions such as Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Sage 50 software or similar accounting systems; Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables/Vlookups a must have for this position)

• Ability to handle Check Deposit and Invoice Coding tasks

• Prior experience in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Experience in handling Monthly Bank Reconciliation

• Able to perform Month End Close tasks

• Experience in the transport industry would be an asset

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is preferred.
