Description Robert Half is seeking candidates who have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department, for a Controller position at a reputable company. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. If you can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services, this role might be right for you. Major responsibilities

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation Requirements - 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  • Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Expertise in standard costs

  • Foundational knowledge in budget forecasting

  • Month end closings experience desired

  • Financial reporting experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
