Robert Half Director of Operations/Housing in Ellensburg, Washington


Our not-for-profit client in Ellensburg, WA is looking for an experienced Director of Operations for the housing division of the organization.

Director of Operations need for our client offers several types of help for people who are homeless using a Housing First model, believing that a person’s first and primary need is a safe and secure roof over their head. We believe everyone is housing-ready and we support our clients with connections to community-based help once their housing is stabilized. The director is expected to manage all aspects of assigned programs including personnel, budget, outcomes, contract compliance, and strategic planning. This position manages 15+ employees.

Coordinate and review financial information to prioritize and direct staffing, resource allocation and objectives.

Initiate and direct changes to increase efficiency and meet objectives.

Manage budget, staff, calendar, and facilities to support organizational finance and operation goals.

Create and enforce rules and procedures for auditing, procurement, financial reporting, and legal compliance.

Understand and comply with all program contract requirements, including timely and accurate submission of reports.

Create and manage projected annual budgets, allocations, and contract funding including invoicing and billing oversight.

Coordinate with and build sustaining relationships with external vendors and partners, constantly developing new partnerships.

Ensure accreditation, maintenance, and safety programs are current and accurate.

Participate in local community activities, local and regional government and funder meetings on behalf of the company, and remain informed on the affairs of the cities, County, and State and Federal legislatures relative to programs.

Assists in accomplishing HR objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.

Achieves operational objectives by contributing to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.

Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.


Minimum Requirements:

Five years experience in multiple employee supervision with successful outcomes.

Project management experience with both analysis of information and implementation of projects

Experience with budgets and invoicing

Experience with grant and/or contract administration

Attention to detail, decision-making ability, and conflict resolution skills

Must pass criminal background check.
