Robert Half is working with an employee-friendly manufacturing company in Elmwood Park, NJ, where we prioritize the well-being and development of our team members. We are currently seeking an HR Generalist to join our HR team and contribute to various aspects of human resources management.

Job Description:

As a Senior HR Generalist, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing various human resources functions, including staffing and recruitment, employee relations, compensation, labor relations, payroll and benefits activities, onboarding, and training. You will interact with and provide guidance to the Payroll & Benefits Administrator as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the recruiting and staffing function, including developing and implementing new sourcing strategies, coordinating interviews, and assessing candidates.

  • Oversee ADP’s Learning Management System (LMS) to plan and distribute training programs.

  • Conduct post-offer candidate processes, such as reference checks, background checks, and pre-employment drug screens.

  • Provide counsel to supervisors, management, and employees regarding handbook policies, HR procedures, and SOPs.

  • Assist with reorganizations, change initiatives, and reductions in force as needed.

  • Ensure organizational communication is compliant with federal, state, and local laws and update HR postings accordingly.

  • Develop and maintain the HRIS system, generate reports and analyses as required, and ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Handle or assist in the approval and commencement of leaves of absence, including FMLA, STD, LTD, and Worker’s Comp leaves.

  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions and ensure compliance.

  • Handle employee relations issues, complaints, disciplinary actions, and investigations in agreement with the Director of Human Resources.

  • Develop and implement new employee orientations and onboarding programs.

  • Administer performance review programs and assist in the administration of wage and salary increases.

  • Coordinate and conduct supervisor and employee training sessions.

  • Investigate accidents and interface with management and insurance carriers.

  • Assist in the preparation of the HR budget and handle unemployment claims and hearings.

  • Seek continuous improvement in HR processes and programs.

    Requirements

Educational/Training Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources related area.

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience as an HR Generalist, preferably in a manufacturing environment with both hourly and salaried workforce.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • SHRM certification is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical/mathematical skills.

  • Excellent relationship-building skills.

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Conflict resolution and training platform skills.
