Description
Join a dynamic and growing office at a leading national law firm that specializes in plaintiff-side toxic tort matters. We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to provide critical support to a team of 3-4 attorneys through all phases of complex civil litigation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow their career under the mentorship of experienced attorneys and within the support structure of a national firm. This is an on-site, full-time, contract-to-hire position.
Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation from onset through trial
Draft pleadings, correspondence, authorizations, interrogatories, transmittal letters, and other legal documents
File summonses and complaints, and work with vendors to effectuate service
Prepare comprehensive discovery requests and responses, beyond form interrogatories
Coordinate and schedule depositions
Track and monitor client files, calendars, and provide status updates
Perform extensive internal and online legal research (court rules and procedures)
Assist with trial preparation, including trial binders, exhibits, coordinate with experts, opposing counsel, and court staff
Prepare and manage motion work and filings, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy
Be proactive and demonstrate a self-starter attitude, taking initiative in all tasks
Requirements
Qualifications:
3- 5+ years of paralegal experience in a plaintiff-side civil litigation practice area
ABA Approved Paralegal certificate is required
Ability to work on-site in Emeryville, CA is required
Strong knowledge of court rules and civil procedures for both Federal and California Superior Courts
Proficiency with court filings
Experience in preparing and managing motion work and filings
Must be able to prepare, format, and edit legal documents such as pleadings, including TOCs/TOAs
Extensive experience in preparing and managing discovery requests and responses, beyond basic form interrogatories
Significant experience assisting in trial preparation, including creating pre-trial documents, binders, and coordinating trial logistics
Ability to perform extensive legal research
Strong command of technology, including various computer programs and legal software
Excellent communication skills for coordinating and scheduling depositions, and liaising with clients, attorneys, and court staff
Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and take initiative in completing tasks
