Robert Half Patient Service Representative in Emeryville, California
Description
We are seeking a Patient Service Representative for our healthcare facility located in Emeryville, California. The successful candidate will provide clinical support for patients and physicians in our Clinic, performing a variety of front office and back office tasks. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Manage rooming and patient flow, including pre-visit preparation, assisting with the patient visit, and post-visit duties
• Employ lean techniques to support smooth patient workflows
• Prepare patients for appropriate exams/procedures by reviewing Electronic Health Record (EHR) for health maintenance, disease management, overdue or due-soon services and pend orders, when appropriate
• Gather appropriate documents and signatures necessary to assist the Clinician in making treatment decisions
• Ensure that exam rooms are clean, stocked and appropriately set up each day prior to rooming patients
• Assist in patient education by providing informational pamphlets and after care instructions, and/or after visit summary as instructed by the Clinician
• Refer care outside of the Medical Assistant position to the appropriate licensed personnel
• Assist Clinician with EHR In-Basket management for prescription refills results, authorizations/referrals and non-clinical secure e-messages
• Receive and record lab/radiological test results and ensure that those results and related reports are with the patient’s medical record at the time of the patient’s visit
• Relay Clinician instructions/orders to pharmacy, patients and other entities via computer, phone, fax or email.

Requirements • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Patient Service Representative role or similar within the Healthcare/NHS industry.
• Proficiency in CRM and EHR system usage.
• Experience with McKesson software is highly desirable.
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suites.
• Familiarity with Benefit Functions, Billing Functions, Cash Activity, and Claim Administration within a healthcare setting.
• Proven ability to handle patient complaints professionally and efficiently.
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, if required.
• Prior experience in a customer service role, preferably within the healthcare industry.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• High level of professionalism and adherence to workplace and industry regulations and guidelines.
