Description

Do you possess knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures as well as knowledge of medical terminology? Robert Half is seeking Medical Billers to assist our clients in the Eugene area. These positions may be located in physician offices, hospitals, nursing homes, or other healthcare facilities. The medical biller is responsible for submitting medical claims to insurance companies and payers such as Medicare and Medicaid. It is a position that is critical for the financial cycle of all health care providers, from single-provider practices through large medical centers. The medical biller is responsible for the timely submission of medical claims to insurance companies.

Job Duties:

  • Claims Processing: Prepare and submit accurate medical insurance claims to various insurance companies.

  • Coding: Assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) to diagnoses and procedures for billing.

  • Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure accurate billing.

  • Billing and Invoicing: Generate and send bills to patients and insurance providers, including electronic and paper billing.

  • Payment Posting: Record and post payments received from patients and insurance companies.

  • Follow-up: Monitor unpaid claims and follow up with insurance companies for resolution.

  • Patient Interaction: Answer patient inquiries regarding billing and insurance claims.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with healthcare billing regulations and standards.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized billing records and documentation.

  • Reporting: Generate reports on billing and revenue cycle performance.

    Requirements

  • Medical Billing Certification: A certification in medical billing is often required.

  • Knowledge of Medical Coding: Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

  • Software Proficiency: Ability to use billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in coding and billing processes.

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.

  • Ethical Conduct: Adherence to ethical standards in handling patient information and billing practices.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain organized records and handle multiple billing tasks.

  • Problem-Solving: Resolve billing discrepancies and insurance claim issues.

  • Knowledge of Insurance: Understanding of insurance policies and healthcare billing regulations.

  • Teamwork: Collaborate with healthcare professionals and billing team members.
