New position offering great long-term potential! Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Chicago team. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting.
Your responsibilities
Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls; while also providing support on special requests when required
Supply Balance Sheet account reconciliations
Delegate resources to Ad-hoc projects as necessary
Allocate and prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis reports for management
Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP
Prepare financial analysis on trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc.
Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and SOX testing with internal and external auditors
Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions
Apply oneself to various department-wide initiatives
Design new methods and processes and oversee implementation
Requirements
2+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well
Command of account analysis
Vow to meet business deadlines
Exceptional time management skills preferred
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus
Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
