We are offering an opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Fairfield, Connecticut. This role will be focused on maintaining and controlling the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, utilizing your skills in bank and general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, assisting with month end close, and audit activities.
Responsibilities:
• Apply your expertise in Bank Reconciliations to ensure all financial records are accurate.
• Utilize your knowledge of General Ledger accounting to manage financial information and create financial reports.
• Prepare and record Journal Entries as part of the financial reporting process.
• Assist with the Month End Close process, ensuring all financial data has been received and recorded.
• Conduct Audit Activities to assess the accuracy and completeness of the financial records.
Requirements
• Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• 2-5+ years of proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role
• Proficiency in conducting Bank Reconciliations
• Skilled in preparing and reviewing Journal Entries
• Experience with Month End Close activities
• Ability to participate in Audit Activities
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Excellent problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Prior experience working in a non-profit organization is desired!
• CPA certification will be a plus
