Robert Half International Controller in Falls Church, Virginia
My client is a 25+ year old Home Owners Association management organization that is looking to bring on a new Controller to manage their accounting department. This full-time position will work in the Falls Church, Virginia region. The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. If you can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, and are a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo, you might be right for this position.
How you will make an impact
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Account reconciliation experience desired
Expertise in Accounting Systems
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
CPA or MBA preferred
