Description
We are in the process of recruiting a Medical receptionist for a healthcare team. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.
You will be responsible for greeting patients and visitors, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records accurately and confidentially.
Additionally, you may also check patients in and out, handle billing processes, and collect payments. Other duties include monitoring office supplies, keeping the reception area clean and organized, and provide excellent customer service. You must have a strong understanding of medical terminologies and possess excellent communication, administrative, and organizational skills. This role often requires a high degree of discretion due to the sensitive nature of medical information
Requirements
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is usually required. However, a certificate or degree in medical office administration or a related field may be advantageous.
Experience: Previous experience working as a receptionist, particularly in a medical setting, is often preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in using computer systems is necessary, including knowledge of medical software, spreadsheets, and word processing.
Communication Skills: Medical receptionists interact with patients, doctors, and other healthcare professionals. Therefore, you must possess good listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
Organizational Skills: The job demands managing multiple tasks simultaneously, such as scheduling appointments, filing paperwork, and handling patient queries.
Customer Service Skills: Medical receptionists should possess excellent customer service skills, as they are the first point of contact for patients visiting the hospital or clinic.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: Understanding medical terms and jargon is beneficial in this role to accurately record and convey information.
Attention to Detail: You should be detail-oriented to ensure all medical records, billing information, and appointment schedules are accurate and up-to-date.
Patience: Dealing with patients, especially those who are sick or distressed, requires a great deal of empathy and patience.
Confidentiality: Complying with patient confidentiality laws, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), is crucial.
Professionalism: You should demonstrate professionalism, as they represent the medical care facility they work for.
Time Management: The job could involve many responsibilities that need to be executed in a timely manner. Thus, having good time management skills is a pre-requisite.
