Position: Vice President of Tax
Location: Novi Area
Overview:
The Vice President of Tax leads all tax, estate planning, and insurance activities for the company, creating strategies that maximize compliance and minimize tax burdens. This role involves collaborating closely with ownership, tax advisors, and internal teams to support high-level decision-making and ensure all tax and insurance policies align with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Strategy and Planning
Lead tax planning initiatives, setting strategic goals and advising partners and clients.
Conduct in-depth tax research and document new regulations, guiding compliance efforts.
Develop tax strategies that align with ownership’s estate planning goals.
Compliance and Analysis
Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations, maintaining timely filings.
Analyze the company's tax policies, recommending updates to minimize liabilities.
Oversee complex tax documents, providing primary review and ensuring accuracy.
Handle tax return preparation and review for various entities, including partnerships, trusts, and individuals.
Operational Leadership
Oversee preparation for and execution of internal operational audits.
Support budgeting, financial analysis, and forecasting processes, incorporating tax insights.
Implement tax policy changes in collaboration with accounting to enhance systems.
Risk and Insurance Oversight
Review and manage insurance policies, coordinating annual renewals and liaising with stakeholders.
Balance business needs with risk, developing coverage recommendations.
Partner with the HR Director to develop company-wide risk management policies.
Team Development and Mentorship
Mentor associates, developing talent and contributing to team growth and revenue goals.
Foster a collaborative environment, motivating team members to meet deadlines and work effectively.

Requirements
Qualifications:
CPA required; Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Tax, Accounting, and strategic planning.
Expertise in estate planning with proven leadership skills.
Strong communication, negotiation, and confidentiality skills.
Possess a proven background in federal, and multi-state tax planning
Excel in Estate and Trust return preparation and planning
Enjoy working with operations, executive leadership, managing tax staff, and external service providers
