Robert Half City Planner in FOREST PARK, Georgia
Description The ideal candidate for this job will perform the following tasks on a daily basis while working as the City Planner for the client:
-Research and prepare information related to planning functions within the Planning & Community Development Department.
-Coordinate activities for planning studies, review and prepare data related to the comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance.
-Review site development plans, reviewing minor subdivision plats, administering development-related ordinances and regulations, assisting, and directing developers and individuals, approving zoning related permits, and performing additional tasks as assigned.
-Prepares a variety of materials, reports, and documentation for public hearings, various meetings, and board presentations including providing presentations and detailed reports on development proposals to City Council, Planning Commissions, Architectural Design Review Board, and the general public.
-Evaluates zoning, land use, and planning proposals to ensure compliance with municipal codes, ordinances, and regulatory standards. Provides information to the public regarding development regulations.
-Assists in resolving citizen and customer issues.
-Oversees the work of consultants and interns.
-Conducts field evaluations and assessments.
-Accept open and responsive direction from leadership team.
-Willing to step in and attend various meetings in absence of the Director as needed.
-Maintain records and files.
-Attend planning commission meetings, city council meetings, and other evening meetings as needed.
Software skills wanted:
-MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams.
-Must be organized, able to multi-task and a go-getter.
-Must be adaptable and flexible to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
-Must be engaging and proactive in bringing ideas to the table to make the role more effective and efficient.
Bachelor's degree in urban planning or closely related field required with 1-2 years of applicable experience in the following: urban planning, local/regional land use, zoning, land development plan review, or site plan review. Requirements Planning Processes
