Robert Half Human Resource Generalist in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Description

The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, and employment law compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Manage the recruitment process including job postings, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees.

  • Develop job descriptions and person specifications.

  • Conduct orientation sessions for new employees.

  • Employee Relations:

  • Address employee concerns and grievances.

  • Conduct investigations and resolve issues related to employee complaints or workplace disputes.

  • Foster a positive working environment through employee engagement initiatives.

  • Benefits Administration:

  • Administer health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.

  • Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.

  • Performance Management:

  • Assist in the management and execution of performance appraisal processes.

  • Provide coaching and support to managers on performance management and employee development.

  • Compliance and Record-Keeping:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.

  • Policy Implementation:

  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.

  • Communicate and ensure understanding of policies and procedures.

  • Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and organize training sessions or workshops.

  • Support employee development through coaching and mentoring.

  • HRIS Management:

  • Manage and update the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) for accurate employee data.

  • Generate reports and analyze HR metrics.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of HR generalist experience.

  • Proficiency in HRIS and MS Office Suite.

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
