Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proficient Medical Coder to join our clinic. The Medical Coder will be responsible for accurately coding healthcare claims for reimbursement from insurance companies and government healthcare programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. This job includes collaborating with providers on coding decisions and other relevant point of service coding and documentation questions and inquiries.
Translate patient conditions and doctors' medical treatments into universal medical codes for insurance claims.
Utilize various coding systems, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
Review and analyze medical documentation, consult with healthcare providers to ensure accuracy.
Handle patient data confidentiality as per HRPA guidelines.
Sustain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements, including federal Medicare and Medicaid coding requirements.
Respond to inquiries regarding medical coding and billing.
Resolve discrepancies in coding and documentation.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records)
Requirements
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) designation is required.
At least 2-3 years of work experience as a Medical Coder or a related role in the Healthcare industry.
Comprehensive knowledge of coding guidelines, procedures, including federal Medicare and Medicaid coding requirements.
Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology.
Excellent computer and data entry skills.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A strong understanding of health insurance and medical billing.
On-Site, not a remote role
