This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in the Fremont, California region. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. How you will make an impact

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

Requirements

  • Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

  • Solid understanding of Biotech

  • Adeptness in pre-IPO

  • Deep understanding of Big 4 Accounting Firm

  • CPA experience

  • Consolidations experience

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing

  • The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
