Description
We are looking for a Sr Cost Accountant to join our team in Fremont, California. The Senior Cost Accountant position is responsible for ensuring efficiency in the day-to-day operations of the organization. You will collaborate with other teams to maintain financial and operational reports and manage budgets to reduce company expenditures. This role requires extensive knowledge of financial and operational strategies, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a deep understanding of regulatory requirements. Applicants should be highly analytical and capable of developing realistic and positive solutions to operational issues that arise in their job.
Overview of responsibilities
As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Responsible for the cost accounting function and cost control & pricing. Are you able to look at an operational process with two goals in mind:
Take the process and make it as most cost effective as possible.
Based on the process with cost controls, establish the total cost of the process (Cost Accounting), then deciding on the total price of services.
Supervising the preparation of financial reports by the accounting team.
Ensuring smooth functioning of day-to-day operations.
Developing and implementing financial systems, policies, and procedures.
Providing financial analysis and evaluation to support decision-making.
The key functions this role include:
Controlling, monitoring, and analyzing operational and financial processes.
Developing and implementing operational and financial strategies.
Identifying and analyzing areas of risk.
Establishing and maintaining financial control systems.
Key performance indicators of this role include:
Reduction of expenses through cost controls.
Timeliness of financial and operational reports.
Support audits.
Development of financial policies and procedures.
Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Senior Cost Accountant include:
Identifying areas of inefficiency and proposing new strategies to tackle them.
Reviewing financial reports and presenting them to senior management.
Providing financial analysis and supporting executives in making informed decisions.
Developing and maintaining financial control systems.
Communicating and collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth functioning of operations.
Requirements
Educational & Experience Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
At least five years of experience working in finance, accounting, or a related field is required for this position.
Financial systems knowledge of NetSuite with experience in customizations and module implementations is highly desirable.
Experience with data analytics, financial reporting, and managing audit processes.
Experience with IT systems, managerial reporting tools, Excel modelling, and data management.
Proven financial management and reporting experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes. Public accounting experience a plus.
Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and locations.
Possess a track record of process leadership and process improvement. (In Accounting and Operations)
