Robert Half Assistant Controller in Fremont, Ohio
Description
We are in search of an Assistant Controller to join our client's team located in Fremont, Ohio. The primary role of the Assistant Controller will be to handle multiple entity accounting, manage accounts payable and receivable, and contribute towards budgeting. You will also be expected to participate in improving accounting processes and timing of financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Master the use of our ERP system and become the finance group's power user
• Execute monthly bank reconciliations for multiple entities
• Timely and accurate recording of accounts payable
• Facilitate the preparation of the annual budget for review and approval
• Maintain pre-paid general ledger schedules
• Take the lead in year-end audits/reviews and annual benefit plan audits
• Maintain and update audit workpapers
• Ensure timely and accurate issuance of vendor and subcontractor payments
• Serve as a backup for accounts payable and receivable
• Understand and assist with ESOP/Retirement Plan Administration
• Assist with monthly and quarterly business filings
• Participate in other projects as requested by the Controller/CFO.
Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Demonstrable knowledge of accounting functions
• Proven experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations and procedures
• Prior experience in a similar role, such as Assistant Controller, is preferred
• Certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus
• Comfortable with technology and able to quickly learn new software applications.
