Description

Robert Half is looking for a Senior Accountant responsible for maintaining the general ledger, payroll accounting system, and other financial records of the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting with the necessary knowledge, skills, and expertise to fulfill the requirements of the position. Additionally, experience in FQHC healthcare and Federal Grant review is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.

Process payroll and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts and documenting business transactions.

Distribute expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivable according to schedules.

Perform statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.

Works with Accounting on updating and reconciling accounts for month-end close.

Assists with planning quarterly and year-end external audit activities, including regular communications with auditors and follow-up.

Analyze and track labor and expenses and provide detailed analysis.

Financial analysis to include project status and estimation to complete.

Manage accounts payable processing according to established policies and procedures.

Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting activities.

Conduct financial analysis and prepare reports to support decision-making processes.

Work closely with other members of the management team to ensure compliance with rules and regulations imposed by funding sources.

Collaborate with external auditors and grantors to facilitate audits and grant reviews.

Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations affecting nonprofit organizations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

CPA designation preferred.

4 years of experience in accounting roles, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

Experience in FQHC healthcare and Federal Grant review.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

Experience with payroll processing and familiarity with payroll software.

Advanced Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, etc.).

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Skilled at time management

  • Great written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

  • Skilled with ERP systems

  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong familiarity with Federal Grant

  • Comprehensive knowledge of FQHC

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Understanding of corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
