Description
We are in search of a Technical Writer ON-SITE in Fridley, Minnesota. As a key member of our team, your primary role will be to generate and maintain comprehensive technical documents for internal and external customers. These documents will encompass a wide range of topics, including the use, operation, and maintenance of our electronic test equipment. This role is fundamental to our marketing department and plays an integral part in providing our customers with the necessary technical information related to both hardware and software.

Job Summary:
This position supports our Marketing Department, and the responsibilities include providing technical information in an appropriate and usable format to internal and external customers relating to the use, operation, and maintenance of the company’s electronic test equipment, applying to hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain technical manuals targeted to internal and external customers. Such manuals include, but are not limited to: product description, product use and operation, product installation, maintenance and troubleshooting, register lists, engineering utilities (customer utility programs), programmer’s hardware application program interface, custom software applications, and custom hardware addendums
Preparation of documents includes 1) interviewing subject matter experts, 2) reading manufacturer operation manuals and specifications, 3) interpreting schematics and system footprint drawings, 4) writing, editing and proofreading text, diagrams, drawings, and pictures and 5) creating and/or modifying graphics (digital photographs, screen capture images, drawings, diagrams, flow charts, etc.).
Ability to create and execute test programs using simulator (no programming experience required).
Develop documentation for distribution in electronic form with available printing, such as in PDF format, from established templates.
Participate in all relevant requirement and/or functional specification reviews.
Provide internal customers with access to all released documentation using the System and advise others on the use of Microsoft Word.
Maintain necessary documentation standards.
Be the point person for all technical questions by reviewing the manuals and other relevant technical documentation. Direct the user to subject matter experts as necessary.
This position will work with:
Subject matter experts (software and hardware engineers, field applications/service engineers, etc.) to get raw data and to refine such data into information appropriate to its target audience.
Customer/Field Service personnel for obtaining source material for development and review of the material contained in the manuals, maintenance guides and other service documentation. This includes Asia Sales and Service personnel.
Manufacturing personnel to obtain additional assembly and product information for inclusion into maintenance guides, installation instructions and other hardware related documentation.
Sales personnel to obtain the language used in describing our systems and provide information to customers on where specific information can be found in the manuals.

Requirements
• Must hold a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer or a related position.
• Familiarity with AP Style writing is essential.
• Auditing skills are highly desirable.
• Must possess a thorough understanding of Computer Hardware.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field is preferred
