Description A large non-profit organization is seeking a senior accountant for a remote contract project.

Duties include: Review and analyze lobbying-related time and expense data received from staff; compile lobbying totals for 990 and interim lobbying reports as requested by management (i.e., lobbying YTD totals). Ensure data presented and collected meets the criteria indicated by Internal Revenue Code and is organized in an appropriate manner. Test periodically the amount of federal lobbying done to determine need to register and file LDA reports. (50%)

Review accounting reports to identify lobbying expenses for consultants, advertising, telecom, IT infrastructure, special events and grants. Validate and match accounting reports to records in CRM lobby reporting system (when applicable). (10%)

Disseminate information/train employees on an ongoing basis in proper identification and reporting of lobbying activities; making sure that lobbying reports are filed accurately and on time. Address employee issues accessing & using the CRM reporting tool (10%)

Review and analyze all print and electronic publications for lobbying content to ensure that such activity is reported and included in the master database. Create and provide summary reports that reflect the apportioned amount of lobbying content. Keep system updated technically. (5%)

Assist regional & state directors in completing and filing required state reports. Provide relevant data for state lobbying activities and refine to reflect state specifications & necessary calculations. In response to issues/discrepancies identified by the state government, conduct audits to identify discrepancies and necessary corrections. (5%)

Using various accounting reports and CRM data, track and calculate expenses for ballot committees to identify “in-kind” lobbying grant dollars. (5%)

Track personnel activities (e.g. hires, terminations, transfers) and review individual reporting requirements in order to identify lobby report specifications. (5%)

Manage CRM lobby reporting database tool and data by updating records, designing special reports, addressing errors, archiving records, and identifying required modifications. (5%) Requirements Non-profit lobby reporting experience is required.
