Description Robert Half Finance and Accounting has teamed up with a $400 million+ company in terms of revenue that is looking to permanent a VP / Corporate Controller. The position will manage a team of 25+ and will be responsible for both internal and external reporting (SEC). The ideal candidate would be a CPA, have some exposure to public accounting and controller industry experience. Pay range is 185-225K base plus bonus. IMPORTANT – must (1) be a CPA, (2) have been an audit manager in Big 4 public accounting and (3) graduated from a top accounting program with high grades.

Here is a job description: Job Purpose: The purpose of this position is to plan, organize and manage those activities and resources related to the recording and reporting of financial information for the company and to assure that financial transactions are timely and accurate. The position fulfills this purpose for external information in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and for internal information in accordance with the specific needs of management. Essential Job Functions: Maintain the company's general ledger, including supervision and review of data in a timely and accurate manner Prepare and review monthly financial statements Develops accounting policies and procedures within all departments Monitor the schedules and audit processes Coordinates the preparation of the tax returns with outside firms Ensure appropriate levels of Sarbanes Oxley compliance. Assist in the creation/maintenance of an adequate internal control environment Management responsibility for the accounting activities and staff including hiring, developing and discipline of the office staff Assist the CFO in the protection of the Company's assets Stay current regarding accounting pronouncements and changes in the regulatory and accounting landscape Proactively seek out and implement new and more efficient systems, processes and procedures
Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Certification, etc.) BBA in Accounting required, CPA required, 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, 5+ years general management experience, Management experience in the accounting team of a publicly traded company is strongly preferred, An advanced degree such as an MBA is an advantage for this role Experience in public accounting is an advantage for this role
Skills and Abilities: Must be a decisive individual possessing a strategic focus as well as operational, implementation and detail-oriented focus perspective. Must be able to develop staff through detail oriented and personal growth Must have excellent communication skills Must have excellent relationship skills to be effective with senior management and financial vendors Experience with business related software packages (i.e., Microsoft Excel, MA Access, and various general ledger systems) Advanced knowledge of GAAP and public company reporting requirements
