Position Summary:
The Plant Controller ensures all facets of accounting functions are completed accurately and on time. Makes sure the internal controls are adequate to safeguard company assets.
The Plant Controller is also responsible for setting the overall level of manufacturing output (production plan) and other activities to best satisfy the planned level of unit sales (Budget and/or Forecasts), while meeting business objectives of profitability, productivity, and competitive customer lead times.
Essential Functions:
Plant Accounting
Responsible for planning, data collection, control, and reporting of annual plant budget and periodic financial forecasts.
Responsible for the financial control of inventories and manufacturing costs.
Provide management with analysis and interpretation of various manufacturing costs.
Make recommendations regarding inventory valuations and estimating realizable values.
Ensure proper authorization and compliance with company disbursement polices.
Supervision accounts payable, cost and property accounting, and budgetary controls.
Production Planning
Responsible for the analysis of Sales demand with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
Responsible for the management of inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected items either manufactured or purchased to meet production schedules.
Interface with manufacturing personnel, the Purchasing Department, and the Manufacturing Systems & Production Activity Controls functions, on material status and production planning issues.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Accounting,
CMA or CPA preferred
10 + years in Management Accounting
5 years working with Manufacturing Application Software, preferably JD Edwards.
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience working in Team-based environment.
Mental Demands:
Capable of handling multiple demands from superiors and subordinates
Work well under pressure.
Ability to balance workflow to handle periodic deadlines
Cope with heavy workload – operate in lean organization/department.
Requirements - CPA or MBA preferred
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Great attention to detail
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills
Deep understanding of Balance Sheets
Account reconciliation experience preferred
Journal entries experience
US GAAP experience desired
Well-founded grasp of financial reporting
Proven knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Sage X3 experience
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
