The permanent Controller position is situated in the Garrettsville, Ohio area. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations

Requirements

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Strategic planning experience preferred

  • Experience with pension plans

  • Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)

  • QuickBooks experience desired

  • Prior experience with Process Improvement

  • Variance analysis experience required

  • Cash Flow Analysis experience highly valued

  • General familiarity with Purchasing Activities

  • Balance sheets experience highly preferred

  • Process Improvement Initiatives experience preferred

  • Background working with Internal Control

  • Good understanding of Banking Operation

  • Previous experience working with Daily Banking

  • Earlier work involving US GAAP

  • Adeptness in Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Comprehension of cash flow management

  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial statement preparation

  • Solid understanding of budget forecasting

  • Practical knowledge of Balance Sheet Reconciliation

  • Proficiency in KPI Reporting

  • Hands-on experience with pension plans

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
