Robert Half HR Generalist in Geismar, Louisiana

Description

If you love Human Resources and you're looking for an engaging, new Generalist opportunity, Robert Half has the opportunity for you as a Human Resources Generalist. In this role, you will perform various HR duties, including recruiting, conducting new hire orientation, updating the employee handbook, and managing employee relations. Located in Geismar, Louisiana, this is a short-term contract employment opportunity.

Your responsibilities

  • Draft templates for HR documents, including the Employee Handbook

  • Accountable for completing various tasks and the daily operations of the HR department

  • Collaborate with employees, upper management, and third-party vendors

  • Create & /or support a recruitment plan according to operational and business projections

  • Compare federal, state, and local laws to current internal policies and procedures

  • Manage digital and physical files for employees and their documents, including benefits, attendance records, and annual reviews

  • Assess employee performance, including appraising pay scales, assisting with annual reviews, and coordinating disciplinary action (including terminations if necessary)

  • Employee relations, including engaging employees and coordinating sensitive conversations

  • Create official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary adjustments, updates to the employee handbook, leave of absences, and warning/termination letters

  • Develop onboarding plans and train newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations

  • Work with other members of the HR department to oversee the hiring and onboarding process for new company employees

  • Develop employee engagement plans, including budget approvals and management oversite

    Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. degree preferred, preferably with a Human Resources or Psychology emphasis

  • Prior full cycle recruiting experience

  • Prior HR experience in a Generalist capacity

  • Prior experience coordinating and implementing Open Enrollment is a plus

  • Proficient with office computer applications and software, as well as social media platforms

  • Experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)

  • Strong understanding local, state and federal laws

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn and to take initiative on variety of tasks and projects

    • The responsibilities of this position will require you to be highly professional; able to use good judgment and maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Excellent written and verbal business skills
