Description

We are in search of an adept Construction Accountant with a focus on the Construction/Contractor industry. This role centers around maintaining and enhancing the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. This opportunity offers a contract employment type and requires the individual to be onsite most of the time with some leniency.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.

• Manage and supervise the daily operations of the accounting department while ensuring that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.

• Monitor and analyze accounting data.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

• Continually monitor accounting policies, procedures, reserves, and estimates for compliance with GAAP.

• Strong Excel skills required, including proficiency with Pivot Tables.

• Prepare financial management reports and present findings and recommendations to top management.

• Respond to inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests.

• Assist in budget preparation and management activities.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures with emphasis on internal controls.

Requirements • Must have a comprehensive understanding of Accounting Principles

• Should be able to manage and oversee all aspects of the financial functions of the organization

• Proven experience in the construction or contractor industry is essential

• Ability to develop and implement financial strategies for the company

• Capable of managing the preparation of all financial reports

• Must demonstrate strong leadership and team management skills

• Should be able to coordinate with other departments in preparing budgets and financial reports

• Needs to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting

• Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-judged decisions

• Proficiency in using financial software and advanced MS Excel skills is required

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills are a must

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation would be a plus.
