Robert Half Assistant Controller in Germantown, Maryland

Description

We are in search of an Assistant Controller for one of our commercial real estate clients to join their team in Germantown, MD. This role will involve maintaining the financial health and performance of our client's company and properties, in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee corporate accounting for the organization

• Responsible for cash and reserve management for our real estate portfolio

• Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure financial security

• Manage investor and lender reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and year-end basis

• Participate in or assist with the budgeting process

• Handle property level accounting including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cost variances

• Oversee tax, audits, and reconciliation processes

• Supervise a staff of three while collaborating with the Property Management team

The ideal candidate for this Assistant Controller role will have 5+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience, Yardi or MRI accounting software, BS in Accounting (CPA+), financial statement preparation, general ledger, cash management, budgeting/forecasting and strong supervisory skills. Requirements • Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the Commercial Real Estate sector.

• Proficiency in Yardi property management software or similar tools.

• Demonstrated experience with month-end close and general ledger processes.

• Solid understanding and experience in cash management.

• Prior experience with property accounting.

• Proven skills in financial statement preparation.

• Experience in budgeting and forecasting.

• Ability to handle investor reporting tasks efficiently.

• Proficiency in account reconciliation.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification will be an added advantage.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
