Robert Half Jr. Cost Accountant in Gilroy, California

Description Robert Half is currently working with a client seeking a cost accountant. This critical Cost Accountant role is responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also work closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team to establish customer pricing. This position is for a talented Cost Accountant looking for a company experiencing substantial growth.

What you get to do every single day

  • Generate reports comparing production costs to standard costs and analyze manufacturing costs

  • Take physical inventory and review the cycle count program

  • Create and manage the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization

  • Execute standardized costing methodology for all domestic plants

  • Determine any changes in cost by analyzing any changes in services or goods provided

  • Collect data and plan projects to decide costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste

  • Prepare and complete internal cost audits

  • Generate costs and cost saving ideas based on analysis

  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs

  • Log a detailed record of collected data

  • Generate reports for management that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services

  • Support audits and general ledger preparation

  • Abide by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements

  • Conduct variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances Requirements - 2 years of Cost Accounting work experience

  • Understanding of cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates

  • Strong analytical thinking and a detail-oriented mindset

  • Detailed and have the ability work independently

  • Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner

  • Knowledge of organizational accounting concepts

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
