Description
Project Accountant role in the Manchester area! This critical role will involve job cost reporting, budget variance analysis, quarterly forecasting, and the preparation of journal entries to support monthly financial closes. The Accountant will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records and participating in process improvements in a collaborative setting.
Responsibilities:
• Manage job cost reporting and administration, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
• Conduct thorough analysis of budget variances and prepare reports
• Prepare quarterly forecasting reports to support strategic decision-making
• Create various journal entries to support the monthly financial close process
• Reconcile various balance sheet and income statement accounts regularly
• Maintain records of monthly close documentation for future reference
• Review existing processes and procedures, suggesting improvements where necessary
• Support finance initiatives through periodic site visits
• Prepare workpapers to support quarter end and year end requirements
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulations
• Document and update the Cost Accountant process manual and financial process flow charts regularly
• Communicate effectively with other Accountants, Supervisors, Managers, and project teams
• Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement process improvements
• Undertake other work-related tasks as needed or assigned.

Requirements
• Holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Proven experience in a similar role, such as a Sr. Accountant / project costing
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Demonstrable competency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations
• Proficient in managing General Ledger and Journal Entries
• Experience with Month End Close procedures
• Familiarity with Construction Cost accounting and Activity Based Costing
• Ability to handle Project Cost accounting
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
