Robert Half Controller in Glen Allen, Virginia

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in the industry of accounting and finance, seeking a Controller to join our team in Glen Allen, Virginia. This role involves directing and coordinating accounting operations, managing financial processes, and working on special projects.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and coordinate the work of accounting associates in all aspects of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

• Manage the month-end close process, including recording and reviewing journal entries, analyzing general ledger accounts, and initiating system close.

• Prepare monthly financial statements such as Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Revenue & Retention analysis, and Bank Cross-sell.

• Develop an annual budget and financial forecast to assist with the decision-making process at the executive level.

• Oversee treasury management functions, including cash disbursements, reviewing and approving all bank reconciliations and transactions, and ensuring adequate cash reserves.

• Oversee and approve payroll to ensure accurate records.

• Maintain fixed assets through proper entry into the fixed asset system; record depreciation and disposals.

• Assist with the filing of quarterly and annual taxes (property, income, sales and use, etc.)

• Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data while adhering to financial regulations and standards.

• Identify ways to improve financial efficiency while leading accounting associates in optimization initiatives.

• Work with external auditors and provide necessary schedules and documentation to support the annual audit. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position

• Proficiency in 3M, Accounting Software Systems, ADP - Financial Services, CRM, and Crystal Reports is essential

• Experience in Accounting Functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Knowledge of Auditing and Budget Processes is required

• Familiarity with Insurance, Insurance Agency, and Insurance Industry is a must

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• A professional certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
